Main Digital Solution
The Approach
Leveraging the Main () MethodSM , the team’s approach was to produce actionable analysis on application alternatives, including fit with other debt platforms and delivered recommendations, including pros and cons, estimates for implementation, and business cases with a return on investment (ROI).
The Process
Main Digital kicked off the project by meeting with the client’s subject matter experts (SME) and stakeholders. In collaboration with the client’s stakeholders, a project charter was developed to ensure scope boundaries, and Main Digital established and executed a comprehensive work plan to complete milestones. The team reviewed and updated the existing Level 2 and Level 3 Business Capability Models (BCM) for Loan Management to define the capabilities that support end-to-end business processes.
Next, the team created and updated high-level process documentation for key processes, including identifying the suppliers, inputs, critical process steps, outputs, and customers (SIPOC) for Level 3 BCM. The team also conducted an end-to-end analysis of systems and processes supporting capital markets, conducted a gap analysis between current platform functionality and business requirements. The engagement produced a competitive analysis for alternative software and platform technologies including enhancements to existing technologies and implementing new ones.
Following these steps, the team engaged third-party software platform providers to submit, collect, and evaluate Requests for Information (RFIs). Main Digital delivered recommendations that included pros and cons, estimates for implementation, and business cases with potential ROI. Themes for Unified Capital Markets Platform realization – Platform, Best-of-Breed, Custom – were identified. The team provided a detailed read-out of the overall engagement and options to executive stakeholders and delivered stakeholder-focused solutions and recommendations.
In addition, Main Digital assessed the current platform and built a plan to decommission the current systems. The work included SME interviews and feedback, a gap analysis, business process modeling, and vendor product evaluations.
Multifamily was selected as the first business unit to pilot the unified capital markets platform. Main Digital led the requirements discovery and analysis work including level 3 SIPOC, Business Requirements in user story format, vendor evaluation, vendor request for information with evaluation criteria, vendor scorecard, a summary of findings, and roadmap for execution. This effort reimagined and recommended options to implement the foundational tools, technologies, and processes required to replicate the strategy across all capital markets.
The Outcome
In conclusion, the project enabled the client to establish a unified capital markets platform and a significantly improved user experience for their brokers, debt producers, and loan servicing professionals. The team provided actionable analysis of application alternatives and delivered recommendations, including pros and cons, and estimates for implementation and business cases with potential ROI. The outcome was a reusable roadmap for execution across all the capital markets business units.
